I have 3 Carrier low profile ducted roof air conditioners installed on my coach. They have been in use for less than 5 years. 2 of the 3 have failed. I have contacted the service shops recommended by Carrier HQ. I have had no luck finding a shop that will attempt repair. I found several shops that volunteered to sell me replacement units.
Does anyone know of a shop in the S.E. U.S. that is good at repairing roof top airs?  Thanks.

Mal  ck with Nick Badame  maybe he can help out.  Seams there is a problem if more than one has failed ?   Nick knows these units and if this model has a defect and is prone to fail he will know about it.  Bob

I don't know where you go but I will suggest where not to go.  I took mine to PPL 3 times now and they just can't get the job done.  The guy keeps putting me off now.  Next step is to walk in and shake his hand and smile.  Thenpolitely suggest he find a spot for my bus to get in there and fix it.  I paid for a service and I did not get the service.

Considering you can get a new A/C for around $700.00-the repairs on your old units should be minor.  Personally-I'd just get new-like a Penguin (was at Camping World to look at a Penguin and while there were Colemans, and Carriers, no Penguins since he said they don't break as much).  Good Luck, TomC

The new Penguins made in Mexico now are not doing that great either lol,the Carrier Ducted model the 12 volt control board goes bad have you checked to be sure you have 12v to the unit check the fuse they won't run with out 12 volts,Dinosaur is supposed to be making a replacement board now for Carrier those are good units but the board was weak they won't handle any kind of spike in electricity  .

good luck

Is there any rooftop A/C unit that isn't a hunk of junk?  Carrier quit the RV A/C business some time ago.  Carrier was supposed to keep supplying parts but I have read about folks not being able to get certain parts already.

I am still thinking about raising my roof and I would need to go to low profile units.  Coleman's low profile units are out as they are a poor design.  The exposed condenser fan would catch on low branches.  Dometic is the only other choice now, but it doesn't seem that folks are too pleased with the Penguin.

I have Penguins on the S&S I like the quite running of the 3 speed fan what I don't like living here in the heat they don't move enough air on high compared to a Coleman or Carrier before all the electronics they were all dependable you see roof tops 30 years old that people have never had a problem with so what are going to do not much you can do fwiw I am on my 2nd Penguin in a year i won't let the dealer repair it I make him replace it and Dometic doesn't seem to have a problem with it

The 15,000btu ducted Penguins I got from Nick (ordered through, delivered through Dometic) are stamped assembled in USA.  But they do have a compressor made in Indonesia and a fan motor made in China-signs of the times.  Good Luck, TomC

Dometic has been in Mexico now for around 2 years + or - they had a fire at the plant there and parts and the units were had to get for a while when you see a great super buy at some dealers on a Penguin most of the time those are smoke damaged units they forget to tell you about lol

Luvrbus is right, the old units must be tough. Mine were installed in 1979 and other than a squirt of R-22, and a shot of lube on the fan shaft on one five years ago, they work great. I don't like to remove covers much because the wiring and plastic looks very weathered.

BTW, I had a bee's nest in one unit this summer that I sprayed with bee killer. It melted some of my Styrofoam insulation so be carefull with what you use.
