Is there a simple way to remove the handle from the dash?  I want to put vinyl on the dash.

What kind of a bus?

On mine, the handle has a long bolt holding it in place.

Are you removing it permanently? Or are you putting it back in?

The PO removed the door handle out of my 5C, and at least half the time I'll sit down then see the door still open, have to get up to close it and sit down again. I am so used to sitting down first from years of driving commercial bus. I would put one back in if I had one.

I am working up a design for an air operated opener/closer.  I installed a sedan door to replace the two piece door, and got neither the opener or the air lock.  I will have to put in a mechanical lock to augment the two key locks it already has, and the air opener closer will be a great addition.

Remove the drivers heat/defroster access panel and locate the door handle bell crank and remove the one bolt that clamps the door handle shaft to the bell crank using a 9/16" socket.
Pull the handle stright up after you remove the bolt.

I dont think I would like a Bus without the standard closer. Without that its hardly a Bus anymore.

I wouldn't want it either I just want to remove it to put vinyl over the dash.  I finality found the right vinyl.

I work with vinyl allot  try with a scrap piece cut a hole and see it it won't stretch over handle. Warm a little might help.   Bob
