Have you ever pulled a thread? Then lost the whole sweater? That is what we did. What was supposed to be a light remodel to fix water damage from the PO turned into a complete gut out. Honestly  its a little overwhelming. I feel I'm on one of those dam shows that only has a week to complete the project but I only have 2.5  maybe 3 days! The wife said we have gone this far we  may as well keep going. I'm glad we did it was pretty gross behind the walls. I'm happy to have access to the destination window  and the "stand behind the white line" sticker has seen the light of day again. So I ask yee Busnuts if you had a blank canvas what would you do? What materials or layout? My bus still has all the original windows and think the more light and air the better. Most were covered from the inside and painted black. I'm happy to have brought them back to service. We are thinking of non expanding spray foam for insulation, wood flooring, frp panels for walls and ceiling. We have bought a new dinette a couple of chairs and a couch. As always Thank you for your help and time.

It sounds like we are at the same state in our builds except mine hasnt been built yet.

The more glass= more heat. Or atleast that seams to be the general statement.

Most everything else is opinion and prefferences.

I would never go with a nice wood floor due to what I do with my bus. It would be trashed in no time.

As others have said on here.   Do it your way, how you want to.  or something like that lol  ;D

It is your blank canvas. If we all did the same thing, this board would be pretty boring. With that said, do ask for help in types of materials to be used and procdures to be followed. In the end it is your vision so follow it.

Good Luck,

I hear you Demo, I want to put tile down but I  don't know how to do it in a bus with flex. We put bamboo flooring down in our new house and the dog and 3 year old aged it a hundred years in no time.

Hi Mike our busses are close enough to be 2nd cousins[4623]. Thanks for your advice we do have a vision. I guess I'm trying to avoid known pitfalls. Thanks

Yep I have three dogs that go with us and two young kids.  A bamboo floor would be awesome but not for me.

Ours will be mostly cheap tile and carpet in the bedroom.

I have granite in the 89 put it down with thin set 7 years ago. Still there. Putting hardwood and porcelain in 98  as others said do it your way. I did allow for expansion around cabinets and walls 1/2 inch covered with trim-- others say not necessary, was my choice. The hardwood I'm using is the real 3/4 inch stuff not the engineered! again my way.   We also use allot of Upholstery on walls with quilt batting underneath. Gives soft touch and sound deadening. Yes we have little grand kids. CK  out web site   prevost-stuff.com    look under new coaches/used coaches  for sale  get some really neat ideas. I can't afford one but get some ideas on floor plans and how to do something.    Bob

Godzilla, if you are replacing the structural wood on the floor, then be careful how you do it. It makes a big difference on how you do it. I am not an expert, but there are enough GM bus experts on here to help.

Mine was all full of 3/4 formica covered particle board. Easily over a ton of it with all the bunks and built in stuff. They built right over the original walls and windows. It all came out, and it was a lot of dirty work. I too have some floor to replace, but mine isnt as structural as yours.

You floor is sandwiched between the upper roof/wall section, and the lower cargo bay/axle/engine bay section. I think you could possibly slip a full piece of plywood in between the wall and lower section as long as you keep the rest snugged up and the Bus blocked along its length and leveled
