Thread sealer

What do you guys recomend for sealing the threads on the brass fittings that screw into the block and recieve the fuel line compression fittings?

I use teflon tape to seal pipe threads. Sofar Sogood...Cable

I use gas line pipe dope, yellow stuff out of a squeeze tube.

I'll use the yellow but the white won't hold up to veg oil. This I know as a fact.

I use the fanciest most expensive thread sealer /dope stuff I can find in the hopes that I won't have future problems....there is a nice orange heavy teflon tape that I think is gas rated that I use, also some of the thread locker products are also thread sealers can't remember the appropriate colors/types, just read the pack.

What to use on electrical sending units? Have to replace the oil pres sending unit...Cable

Just use a paste type pipe dope on oil pressure sending units. the point is sometimes (rarely, but it definitely happens) the threads don't cut through the tape and make electrical contact. They definitely do with a paste type dope. I have no idea about the special needs for veggie fuel but if it's so nasty that you need viton hoses and special sealing material I wonder what the heck I am doing eating french fries!.

I bought some stuff last fall or winter called Megaloc I really liked. The only problem is it turned out to have a very short shelf life. Six months after I bought I went to use it again and it was super runny and never did set up. I'm not sure if it getting frozen was the problem or not.

Permatex 59214 for me liquid Teflon best thing since sliced bread price is out of the world over 10 bucks a tube but does the job on anything

At Shell we are not allowed to use Teflon tape on anything but water piping and it is special bought. The problem with it is the next time you take your fitting out you will leave fine Teflon threads in your system. It can plug injectors or wipe out Babbitt bearings. We use locktite Teflon paste. Not sure the number because I see it everyday and don't pay attention. I could go to the garage and look if anyone is intrested. I do know that it is only good for a certain temps then it will just melt out. As far as shelf life it does say to kneed the tube before you take the cap off and mix back together.

I will never use teflon tape again. Too many problems with it, pieces getting stuck in valves and the like. I always use a pipe dope, Permatex and Loctite work great.

I use Megaloc also. If it freezes, it's no good.

I guess I should have put the Megaloc in the box of stuff I move from the garage to the basement storage room every fall. Other thread sealers haven't seemed to mind freezing so I didn't think about it.
