price on wash and wax?

I know all you enterprizing hard working boys do your own. Heck if you overhaul the bus, i guess you would wash it. But what would a lazy boy like me expect to pay for a job like this. (40 foot prevost.)

When we were in Yuma, AZ after just buying our bus (35' GM 4106) - I put an ad on Craigslist to find someone to come out and give her a good washing and waxing. The bus had a lot of oxidizing on it, and needed more elbow grease than I could muster in the 110 degree temps.

After carefully interviewing some folks to make sure they knew how to handle anodized aluminum, etc - we found a crew of two who came out and spent a solid 10 hours on the bus (not including their research time into figuring the ideal products to use). They charged us $300, including all the materials they purchased (and they bought high end quality stuff). We also gave them a hefty tip - as we were very pleased with the job, and their enduring the high temps.

Add another 600 bucks to that if you want the stainless steel mirrored ,and keep your bus out of the truck washes in Texas they are allowed to use the acid wash looks good for a while then looks likes crap in a couple of weeks always ask at truck wash some will use water only here in AZ no problem acid wash is a no/no.

So the math is they brought every thing and did it for 12.50 a hr each in the end they prob ended up with $10 a hr or less.Would you do it for that? So is it a fair price.?? Is about going rate in rv parks in Fla in winter for crews.

Rule of thumb most charge 2 to 3 bucks a ft for a hand wash job

We let them name their price, which we thought was too low for the quality and effort of the work. Which is why they each got hefty tips on top of that. Just quoting what they quoted us for the job

In Yuma there are a couple of outfits that advertise a buck a foot for washing, hand waxing is extra. So a 40 ft. bus would be $40. Now as you can see in Technomadia's case they spent a lot more but they were having a lot more than just a basic quick wash job. I do my own using about 10-12 gallons of distilled water and a garden sprayer and Turtle Wax all in one Wash and Wax. Total cost each time is less than $15 and takes about an hour. I only wash it about 2-3 times a year.

My favorite in Las Vegas: 80.00; in Palm Springs: 55.00. This is for a 45', hand wash and hand dry, dress the tires.

Truck Stop (beacon) charges $30 for a wash which basically entails 5 or 6 guys with high pressure wands with extensions spraying it down after some soap brushing. Does the trick, but not nearly as detailed as a hand wash. But for a quickie....

The Bounder (33 ft pusher, so, kinda like a Bus) was looking pretty road tired, really needed a wash and I just didnt want to deal with it. Stopped at a Truck Stop in southern MN, two guys spent an hour on it scubbing and spraying it down for $53. Best money I ever spent on it.
