Help! I have no defroster!

Dear Friends,

We have disassembled the front inside panel under the windshield,and found nothing to feed hot air to the windshield for defrosting, just the empty slots. Any low-$$$ ideas?

fan on window or treat with rain- x anti fog or maybe unit out of truck is your's missing?

The rain X stuff is awesome.

It wouldnt be that hard to build your own heater box if you had to. We do it all the time in hot rods.

if the hoses are there and functional, make a box with any decent sized radiator a fan and some ductwork.....fussy but cheap

I had the same problem on my Eagle Dr. Steve. Solved the problem with three dash fans that I installed in the overhead near the windshield. They are two speed and seem to do the job. You can pick them up at most any truck supply for about $25 each and chrome plated too!

Can't beat a deal like that.

But the best overall approach is just don't drive it in the wintertime, eh?

SAME FAN I PAID $50 AT napa how about ducting a hot air popcorn popper up to the windows? 120 volt but you will have no frost on the windows.i talked to the company and they say they are rated for continuous use.

Oh nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnoooooo. I bought mine at a local truck supply in Oklahoma City believe it was Fleet Pride if I remember right. The one pointed straight down works fine, if you get a little hot or sleepy, you can flip a switch and toggle it on, helps out late at night, blows straight down on the operator.

$50? Man-man, sorry 'bout that.

NAPA charging too much?? Say it ain't so. I've seen stuff like LED lights were NAPA charges over double what others charge online. I do buy too much from NAPA as often they are the only place in town to get what I want the same or next day. Almost everything I buy from NAPA has to be ordered from the warehouse across town. The guys at NAPA pretty know if I walk in the door that I'm going to be ordering something. If I know the part number I just order on the phone.

I did buy some constant tension clamps the other day and they were actually in stock. Of course, the only reason they were in stock was because I had ordered the same clamps a few weeks ago and the warehouse sent a box of ten.

i paid over $20 a gallon for zerex coolant at Napa, also the fan is real noisy.

Napa is getting unreal. They priced Delo 100 in a 5 gallon pail at $124.00. A local gas company sold it for $78 a five. A part for our car was priced at $89, the local O'Reilly's had it for $65. O'Reilly's is starting to pick up a lot of business.

NAPA will give you a deal if you are buying in bulk. I bought about a dozen wiring harnesses and they gave me at least 1/3 off when I asked for a deal. As I said before I only go to NAPA if I want something quick, or if shipping will cost more than going to NAPA.

I've been impressed by O'Reilly recently. They had some fairly obscure parts in stock at their warehouse and were able to get them to me same day even on a Sunday. NAPA didn't even have that part in the warehouse. They had it in Ohio. O'Reilly was actually about 10% more expensive than NAPA on that part (50 cents), but at least they had it. NAPA is about 2.5 miles closer than O'Reilly, but an 8 mile round trip won't kill me. The O'Reilly 1/2 mile away closed up in the last 6 months or so.

You could just use one or two of the surface mount fans, or you could go to Reddot.com and get a complete defroster setup with hoses. Good Luck, TomC
