That stuff is unsurpassed at "sticky and strong".  Lord help you if you ever have to remove the things.  It is unsightly to me.  I can think of not a single thing that would seal faster and stronger and be easier to apply.

I also used pipe insulation that you can buy at any hardware store for sealing large gaps. They sell it in various sizes, it seals up good,  conforms to irregular shapes and is cheap.

I used pipe insulation in between the gen radiator and the radiator box I built.  I had a tube of silicone going bad so used it to glue the pipe wrap to the wood.

Moose,

Please take note that not one of three "old hands" thought you spray foam idea was optimum.

I just replaced my radiators this past winter and I made new rubber ones like what was on it, I bought the new rubber from McMaster/Carr and it worked out very well. Good luck Jason

Mine are spray foamed. The old rubber seals acted as a fine base.

Every wisp of air that gets around doesn't help cool.

Spray foam is an easy way to ensure a great seal.

And is easily dug out with a tool of your choice when next you have to take out a radiator.

happy coaching!

I agree BW.  Except for that last part about "easily" removed.  You are a better man than I on that score.  It does make the perfect seal with the push pf a button, without a doubt.  Actually, I think you could remove the bolts and discard them after the foam sets.LOL
