That's what I wanted to hear!   That makes sense to me, more so than folk just saying that condenser units always have to be vertical.   I'll have to investigate different brands of minisplits to see which ones can be best configured this way.   Ideally I want an inverter style with soft-start, and if it also has a heatpump that would be good.

My intention is to run it from my Magnum 2kW inverter that's powered by my solar panels.   I see no reason I can't have A/C powered by solar!   I know that a 12K A/C isn't enough to keep things comfortable when driving in hot weather, but I don't plan on often doing that  -  it's only for when parked.

I mounted my mini-split on the back of my 102A3.  It is up above where the piano hinge is.  Working like a charm, and didn't take up any room that was being used for anything else. Love the way it turned out!!
