Greetings:

I need a fast idle buffer switch to hook up my Jakes on my 8V71N.  It is part number 12408, I believe.  Thanks for looking and helping.

When I added Jake brakes-I took the high idle buffer switch off and just added the Jake brake switch-which is relatively cheap compared to the combination high idle/Jake brake buffer switch.  Instead, I installed a King Cruise control (of which you could pay for a chunk of the cruise control with the money you save between the two switches) since the King Cruise can be used as a fast idle.  Good Luck, TomC

I have to agree with Tom  C   I did the same as Tom on my 4106.   I put a bendix Cruise Control.  I can also use the CC for fast Idle.   I also have an air throtle.
Works great.

Josh, Don Fairchild has a couple his number is on the other post I cannot find parts to repair the one I have as Tom C says the King Cruise with fast idle is cheaper than a new fast idle cylinder from DD fwiw 92 series and 71 series are the same just in case you run across one for a 92 series

good luck

I know this is a super-old post, but wondering if anyone has a spare fast idle buffer switch they want to sell for the 8v92 / 6v92?  Looks like the original part number was 12408

That is just a standard buffer switch, the one that I need is a buffer switch that also includes a high idle switch. I had looked at that one initially and thought it was what I needed a little while back, but that's before I understood the difference between the two

Have you checked with JD at C&J Bus in Bloomington MN? 952-881-0034

That's where I got the buffer switch for my bus, and I believe they had more than one at the time.
