:o  i needed a new top cover for my fantastic fan the other day as mine had a big crack in it, i called my local crook of a dealer and they wanted the good part of $30 for it. needless to say i didn't buy it from him. i called up the fantastic vent customer service and asked them the price for a new one as mine was 10 years old and had cracked  they said no charge as we have never charged for parts, when it arrived yesterday i called to thank them and said now my other one in the rear looks like crap against the new one. they said no problem we will send you another one no charge and we will also include switches for you.   what a great company!!!!   please use these people next time you need ventilation products  you wont be sorry...... :) :) :) :) :) :)

You got stiffed you had to install your cover when at a FMCA rally they come to you and install the covers lol that is one great outfit I thought with the owner passing a few years ago things would change I guess not.

Fantastic Vent has always been a great supplier.

I had one stop because of a switch some years ago. They sent me the whole new updated model.

I wanted to replace the inside covers another time because they showed age. They sent me two new ones free.

To me, that seems like it's being a little harsh on your neighbor and a local business.

Even IF the local dealer was given the covers for free, which no doubt they're not, considering the costs associated with stocking slow moving parts and staffing a retail storefront to provide walk-in service, $30.00 sales of slow movers is not making them rich.

So, if someday the convenient local well-stocked specialty store and its knowledgable staff and their contributions to the local community are gone, and instant personal service is replaced by high shipping costs or long travel times, you'll know one of the reasons why.

That is not the point Ted if you read the warranty on the fan Fantastic states if the cover ever cracks they will replace it for free all RV dealers know this that one tried to get him for 30 bucks even CW will give you one free of charge if you have the broken one, they charge you 8 bucks labor to replace it.
At FMCA rallies Fantastic hires a local dealer to service their product on site don't feel to bad for a dealer with their 100% + markup

I would almost never buy anything from the folks at the local RV dealer unless I was really desperate.  One can almost always get parts cheaper online even with shipping.

I understand the RV dealers have overhead, but I suspect they would sell more to cover their overhead even with lower prices.  Maybe they just cater to busy folks who don't do any research and don't realize how high the prices are.

I have been told by RV dealers that certain caulks and sealants that are also sold at Home Depot and the like cost them more at wholesale than Home Depot and the like sell them for retail.  Home Depot has a lot of purchasing power.

Come on guys. I own a business. I have to make a living too. Doesn't the guy doing the ordering and paperwork on your former purchase need to feed his family also or is he there working for free? You guys kill me with your pissin and moaning about something as expensive as $30. It's great that they back up their products but I sure wouldn't expect one of their dealers, that more than likely never sold the fan in the first place, to order it and replace it for free. Call the company direct and order it and leave the people working for a living alone...... unless you want to help them feed their family. If you can't afford a $30 fan cover from time to time maybe you should just put a tarp over the hole!!

Are you sure your name isn't Ben Dover? What's a good brand of battery versus the brand sold to you? I would sure like to see a link for the toilet valve as I may be in need of one also. Was that with freight etc. We need links. Were those batteries Everyreadies?

I guess I am in the middle here.  I tell all my local venders all the same thing "you don't have to be "cheaper" but ya gotta be close.  Twice isn't close so they don't get that business.  I do not feel that I am betraying them or letting my community down.  On the contrary.

A friend of mine posted on the BB at work:  View properties, located in XXXX...30K per 1 acre lot.  When he wandered into my office with a cup of coffee and 10 minutes to kill, I asked what he would charge a "friend" for one of those lots he was selling?  He answered without a thought "for a friend"?  "$60K per one acre lot".  Knowing I was going to get a dose of Haggerty thinking, I anyway asked "30 for a stranger and double that price for a friend?  Why does that make sense?".  Haggerty simply said with a shrug "I figure if you are REALLY my friend you will want to see me do well".  Never paid to question Haggerty and once again I was "Haggarized".
