T on fresh water tank? WHY?

Ok I am using used tanks on my conversion. The tank that I am using has a T for the first fitting right out of the tank. Why would there be a T? Wouldnt there have to be a second pump? one for each side of the T.

Im just wondering if I missed something or if theres something that I missed.

The outlet to my fresh water tank has a T fitting. I can fill the tank from the bottom with it. The hose attached extends my ability to fill by the by the length of the hose. When full, the hose is capped and stored above the tank. It also allows draining the tank a ways away from the bus...Cable

draining the tank wouldnt be that bad but filling it thru the T would take forever. Its only a 1/2" line. When it was in the S&S it had a garden hose attachment to fill it via a 2" fitting in the top.

1 for pump supply and the other for a pull type or valve drain

Maybe so that the tanks can be connected together in parallel ?

Dual pumps are not uncommon in conversions.

I think Len is right. Some conversions have a 110 and a 12 volt pump.

No. 2 12 volt pumps, I see it all the time.

I like the idea 1 a/c and 1 d/c I've havent seen it yet.

I think usually where you have a/c power you also normally have city or well pressure

Not much reason to have a fill pipe larger than 1/2", since most hose bibbs are attached to a 1/2" supply within the building, and then through a 1/2" hose to the bus. I said MOST.

On a side note I believe in the name of simplicity the converter only installed one set of water filters and they are downstream of the d/c pump.

So if we are at a campground and want filtered water we need to continue to run off pump cause if we use city pressure the water is unfiltered.

Are there others out there that have it this way or are we weird, dont answer that

I suppose a T at the bottom could also be used to supply the pump on 1 end and to a drain going out the other.

I run off of the pump all of the time. A few years back i had a few leaks that occurred. Two of those were at night and i could hear the pump cycling so i knew something was going on. If i had been hooked to city water i never would have heard a thing and would have had a lot of water in places that i didn't want it.

When we leave the bus for longer than a day i shut the pump off. Also do that when we are driving. Our tank is 100 gal. so if a line or fitting fails that is the most water that could be lost in the bus. If hooked to city water and you get a leak it could be a lot worse than that.

We have friends that had a line to an upstairs toilet that broke while they were gone on vacation and it put 40,000 gallons of water into their house before they got back. It did $140,000 worth of damage to the house and took almost 4 months to fix. They got real tired of living in a motel while the repairs were done. I know somebody else that had a line to the fridge that broke while they were gone.... it only did $40,000 worth of damages to their place.

We run off the pump all the time also. When the 100gal fresh is empty, the 100gal gray is full. I have to keep things simple...Cable

Maybe a connection for a misting system or even for a "sight glass".
