Bedroom area wall treatments

I know this subject has been talked about and hashed over for years, but it has come up as a main talking point for us lately. I am in the process of re-doing our bedroom area. We own a Silversides so the ceiling is rounded and comes down to the top of the windows. (nothing required there the ceiling is done, in a faux texture creating a "grotto" effect)

I am re-doing the window treatment with pleated cell shades that have a great black out feature built in but with no strings to move them up and down, they just work with internal stuff??

I wanted to re-do the flooring  with hardwood or laminate but Jan wants to re-do it using carpeting. That leaves the walls. And they are only 36" tall from floor to bottom of the windows. Jan has suggested that we use the same carpet that we use on the floor. To me that feels sort of sixtyish (I had a van like that once). I have a roll of cream vinyl in my garage that I could use, or I could use a heavy grade vinyl wall paper, or ?

I am looking for some thoughts of what you folks think, or have used , or would like to use. I figure this is the last time I am going to do this so I would like to do it nicely.

We use upholstery fabric over quilt batting on walls available in any pattern you can imagine. Just sew together and staple around edges cover that with trim.  easy to change later.  Just our way.

A good 20oz commercial grade vinyl wall paper either fabric backed or regular will last for years without problems and movement does not bother it like the paper, use the 54in wide and you have very few seams if any

We used wainscoting (5/16" thick X 3 1/2" wide strips installed vertically) and chair rail. Just another option.  Jack

We used the acoustic wall covering on the ceiling of our 4107.  It was a bear to get up there,  but it sure makes a difference in the acoustics of the area.  Not a project for the feint of heart,  I do this for a living and it was a two person job.  It would work really well on a wall too.

Dave, any commercial wall paper place in your area will sell it or order it for you but you won't find it at HD or Lowes try Sherwin/Williams they can order it for you

On a previous project we used hardboard then glued a thin pile grey carpet to it.  It looked great and was cheap.  The only thing with fabric type wall covering is that you can't wash it easily.  When our transit museum is doing restoration work, we use the hardboard and paint it or sometimes we've used arborite which gives you a range of interesting colour options and it holds up well if you have moisture or condensation problems.

If you check the post picture section, page 30,  Cary and Don, you will kind of see the ceiling.  We trimmed the edge with a wrapped cord.  In the picture,  it just looks like a white ceiling though. Most places will sell commercial wallcovering by the yard.  That's why the one place has roll ends.  You will probably still get it cheaper from the internet place.  Price depends on quantity in commercial wall covering.  A whole roll is cheaper by the yard than a cut length.
