Just bought ANOTHER bus. '69 MC 7. It has a 6.5 propane Onan. Cranks but not even a pop. It's been at least 1.5 years since starting, and possible 4 + years. Can I use starting fluid ?  Or ??

Thanks,

It would be a way to check whether propane is actually getting to the engine. Assuming the fridge and cooktop do work OK, it obviously could be an isolating valve hidden somewhere

On what I call the carburetor there is a vent tube on the Onan (vapor type) if that is plugged they will not start it has to vent each time before it will start also a plugged air filter will not let one start doesn't take much on the filter a little oil on the air filter will stop it from starting not even a pop.
If you have spark check the vent
You need to be sure of what fuel system is on it vapor or liquid they are 2 different animals

good luck

check the fuse in the front. Mine did the same thing tuned out to be the bridge or flash somthing. Sorry i did post the problem on this web site under my user name.
You can have this bus when you pry her from my cold dead fingers.

It will fire up with starting fluid... and I kept giving it small squirts to keep it running but it would die without it.

That pretty much says it is a fuel delivery problem!

I thought most engines used liquid LP instead of vapor?

Something to consider.  Gasoline Carbs for the engine go for as little as $45 and change spark plug to one for gas.(lp 0nly runs 15thousands gap) On my 7.5 lp =1.5 gal per hr : gasoline = .85gal per hour and output increases to 8kw.  This came from a guy with over 30 yrs experience with gen sets. Check and see why it is not venting that will be your problem, check the tank and see if the fuel supply is coming from the vapor or liquid ports my Onan is vapor, that being a 6.5 probaly a 7.0 on gasoline and 6.5  on propane vapor

good luck

DO NOT use starting fluid on that over sized lawn mower engine-you'll easily blow it.  Use a squirt bottle with gasoline instead.  Good Luck, TomC
