I agree with they have been trying to keep it opened but comparing San Francisco to Prescott AZ ???, you my friend have officially lost your California Card, consider yourself removed. LOL

One of my favorite drives. We go down there anywhere on Hywy-1 and start from south to North all the way to Fort Bragg, CA area. We stop and get Oysters at Johnson's, go fishing at the point, Bodega bay, Clams and crab at Tomalas Bay, Dive for abalone at Salt Point, just watch the sun go down at fort bragg, Fishing in the Russian River, Breakfast in Jenner oh ya and the scenic drive too.  A native Californian born in Napa, CA

I didn't find Hwy 1 that bad, but I had already done San Juan Skyway and Kings Canyon, so I had seen much worse. What surprised me the most was the houses that were many miles from nowhere. Depending on which direction they have to travel to work, that could mean many more miles behind the wheel.
