Detroits typically lazy when cold?? (like me? :)

The 6-71 in my 4104 sure likes being warm. By the time the engine temp gets up to 180deg the recirculated fuel has warmed up the fuel tank, the oil in the 4speed and diff has warmed up a bit also.
It get up to temp about 5-8 miles down the road. The speed limit gets up to 55 then 65 about 1 mile from my house so those 5-8 miles is generally at 55mph or above.

The only thing it likes to be cold is the air coming in.
