Good catch Bob. I forgot to mention that if I had to do it again I would have changed all the shocks also while I was at it. Now I'll have to another time. As far as removing the old bolts I found that some of the nuts were brass which made them harder to torch off as they would rather melt into a glob and run down your arm!!! You'll find that most of the bolts will spin and you'll have to resort to the torch or a chisel. There are several bolts on the rears (if I remember right) that have the nuts hidden and you won't be able to torch them off. Just be safe jacking and supporting the bus.

I just sprayed mine with PB Blaster a couple of times each day while waiting for my bags for my 5. Used wrenches since i don't have a torch, a grinder, or a shop. ;D
Used to own a 1968 MCI 5A and a 1977 5C.

Shocks would probably be a good idea.  The bag bolts aren't to rusty but I'll get after them with pb blaster.  My biggest question is where the bags seal to the beam.  If they are stuck on there like an old tire bead, it seems like that could be a sticking point (pun intended).

robertglines1, is this where you suggest using a chisel?  John M.

Yes to chisel. when you get your new ones you will see what I mean. doesn't take much just to break seal. On bottom of bag I think you will find allot of rust between the lower mount and the metal air bag base. Lots of leaks there.   Bob
