I have been talking to the owner of this bus.  It is 90% complete.  Looks like a great bus and was wondering if anybody knows the bus or the owner or if anybody has looked at it?

Thanks
Marc

I haven't seen this bus in person, but can offer a few things to check out. What is the ride height, needs to be around 12-14" from ground to bay tubing? How much adjustment is left on the rear axle torsalastics, along with the front and tag axles? Check for rust, is the aluminum siding straight? In other words, no waves. It's like any bus of that age, just be aware of potential money pits.

Look for any leaks around the windows, especially around the breastplate. We had to remove ours due to cancer, replaced it with a fiberglass one from R&M.

My guess, due to the fact it's had many lookers according to the site, it's a bit overpriced. It's hard to say without seeing it in person. How far away from it do you live? I do believe I've seen it on eBay a time or two.

What's the VIN#?

The Silver Eagle has a superior ride, ours is like riding on a cloud. Smooth as silk.

If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to PM me.

Maybe a 7 to $10,000 bus you can tell the under carriage is wore out and only way you can fix that part on a 01 is install air bags to lift it (no parts),no power steering worthless bi fold doors, the stuff on the ceiling will not hold up you will be replacing that in time just not a good conversion  JMHO

I know it has been for sale for a long, long time; it was for sale a couple years ago when I was looking for a bus. One odd thing is that after a few months of having it not sell, rather than lowering the price the owner actually raised the price. He has also been trying to trade it for a backhoe, among other things. The fact that it has been for sale for so long would concern me.

I'm getting a lot of PM's of people selling their buses, which I appreciate, but just want it to be known that the deal this guy offered was to trade for my gas-powered 1974 Wanderlodge even steven.  I am not a cash buyer until my Bluebird sells.

I would only look at it as a shell with a few good parts.  If it is DOCUMENTED engine with 5000 miles, that's a consideration.  Without docs, it's just another used engine.  It does have $600.00 worth of fuel in it.  he rest of the conversion is a gut job, I don't know if it would be easier or harder than gutting a passenger bur for conversion.  I would not trade a running conversion for it.

I agree that it is at least a partial gut job, but the nasty works seems to be done.  Looks like mostly finish work left to me, and from where it is, re-doing what is not appealing wouldn't seem too bad.  Am I wrong?

An unfinished conversion can be much like an unfinished bachelors degree. What good does it do ya? Prices are depressed enough for completed buses, a lot less for one that is a work in progress. I love Eagles but I don't think I would own one unless I knew the frame was in good shape or redone. You can find completed conversions for the same money, less work.

I hope the asking price includes the bay doors' lift struts (picture 15).   Without them I wouldn't even consider this bus . . .

250 bucks worth wouldn't be a deal killer if the supports are still there

Hasn't that bus been on Craigslist for better than a year?? Seems like their is already thread on it somewhere either here or over at Eagles International. I may be wrong but I thought he use to have it listed for sale because his wife died. Now it is for health reasons..
