Magnatek 6345 power converter

The weather finally gave me a break today so I checked the charging voltages for the old Magnatek.

They are 13.7v at the converter and 13.3 at the batteries, not enough to ever fully charge the batteries as I understand it. The bus has been sitting for three weeks so I would expect the batts to be down quite a bit. They showed 12.6v before I plugged in the converter/charger.

I think I see now why there was a small 1.5amp smart charger installed in the batt compartment!

I guess it is time for me to buy that PD4645 upgrade to make the old Magnatek perform properly?

Any more opinions on that modification?
