As much as I hate eating crow, pass the salt.  I was in BORG and looked at the oak plywood. Made in USA stamped right on it.  Nice sand able surface veneer.

Last time I bought it there it was made in ???? full of voids paper thin veneer and a red glue that stunk when you cut it!!

What I like about Ikea is the cabinet doors.  they have a wide range of styles, and a reasonable range of sizes.  If you plan for their selection of sizes you can get a nice appearance on whatever carcass you build.  Plus the hardware and the knick-knacks are good quality.

IKEA caveat:

I have bought numerous furniture items from IKEA over the years.

Won't buy it again - too much particle board for what you pay for.  (Neighbor had their twin boy's bunk beds collapse because the particle board gave way. . .)

I do like their hardware items (drawer pulls, hinges, etc.), lamp selection and other items.
