I have a 1979 Prevost with the stock 6V92 engine, it is painted green and it is the original block so I am pretty sure it really is a "green engine"
It presently has about 125 thousand miles, and I hope it goes another 100 thousand but if it doesn't, I will be faced with all of the repower issues that have been discussed.  For me, an engine transplant is out, would like to be able to get a rebuilt, or buy a carcass and rebuild the stock 6 V 92.  I have read here, I think to not bother with rebuilding a green block.  So how do I specify to an engine person what I want.
What injectors, what boost pressure, what block, what????.  Do the above questions make any sense?  I want to be able to specify in verbage that all re-builders would understand and I would end up with a engine that would climb a mountain or two, and do a bit better than 5 mpg.

Chuck, 6v92 silver serial numbers start at F83425 any number below is a green block,my feeling you have 9B injectors and in the 240 hp range but no way of telling for sure without the injector numbers

My serial number is F038514, so it is "Green."

Injector number is:  9280  According to the "Coach Final Record"

So my question is what do I want to tell someone I need for my 32,000 lb porker, in terms of hp, torque, and how do I get there.

With 9280 injectors your horsepower should be 295 and 850 lb/ft torque.  Not much-but increasing to 9290 injectors will give you 335hp and 930lb/ft torque.

The general schedule of maintenance on the 92 series is-
Every 100,000 miles-adjust the injection rack, adjust the valves and Jake brakes, and check injector setting.
Every 200,000 miles-roll in new rod and main bearings
Every 300,000 miles-replace injectors, rebuild turbocharger and blower.
Just increasing the injectors to 90's will make a big difference in hill climbing.  Good Luck, TomC

My info shows that serial number to be manufactured in 1978 with 9280 injectors with hp ratings from 240 to 270 hp has a 2.05 blower drive with a TV8102 turbo and a A/R  of 1.23,injector timing of 1.484 .
A 330 hp with around 1000 lbs torque 9g85 injectors,by pass blower full size 1.95 ratio,TV 7512 turbo injector timing at 1.475 it will serve you well and have good fuel mileage in shorty.
