Compressor Problem?

   I noticed yesterday that it has a loud ticking noise that just started or I haven"t noticed before.  Also there is, what looks

  like oil dripping below it running down on the valve cover. There is a long pipe  about the size of your thumb that runs along

the top of the cover. Does the compressor use engine oil for the lubricant ?  Or do I possibly have another problem?

What engine do you have? Is the compressor belt driven or gear driven directly off the engine?  Good Luck, TomC

   Tom,  It's gear driven and the engine is a 8V-92N!

any performance change out of air compressor or engine performance??I have a 8v92  engine oil lubes compressor.
