Does adding gasoline to diesel increase the cetane rating, or is it equivalent to introducing propane to the intake system?   I wonder what the drawbacks are.   Higher EGT maybe?   I'm guessing the engine used in that RV is a modern common-rail piezo-injector diesel, so would adding gasoline also work in our old dinosaur engines?

Well i know that adding diesel to a gas engine doesn't work real well.  ;D

Yes the will run with gas mixed in.  I have a bud that has been blending vegetable oil and gasoline for years.  He mixes 70 percent veg with 30 percent gas.  I am not a fan of straight veg oil unless it is heated.

Gas (LPG), not Gasoline

A shameless plug for my business - visit www.magazineexchange.co.uk for back issue magazines - thousands of titles covering cars, motorbikes, aircraft, railways, boats, modelling etc. You'll find lots of interest, although not much covering American buses sadly.

Ah!   Two nations separated by a common language.

This all makes sense now.

Thanks, John

You can also separate this forum with the language of injecting propane into diesels  ;)

I believe there are a few old buses (that have been re-powered) that could beat 207km/h (128mph).

Don't know if I want to be there when it was done tho . . .

I think the reality would be getting the rite mixture to protect injector and upper cyl lubrication. Fact off road diesel gets better fuel mileage than truckstop fuel. a bunch.higher centane. Several years ago with the fuel we had in winter during cold weather we would put 10 to 15 gal gas in our diesel tanks to keep it from turning to jelly. some older tractors you start on gas then switch to kerosene :one crawler we had spark plugs on one side of head and injectors on other side..start on gas warm up switch to diesel..a few useless facts that prob don't even answer you post:food for thought
