To Tom and anyone else that read my post quoting the law with what I had always been told.

I was wrong!! by the law.

This started to be about getting a title, which I did in North Carloina on my bus conversion and then Tom and I turned it into a license thread.
I have had a commercial class B for most of the time there has been a commercial license.  I have driven thinking you could drive in any state with a regular license in any motor home and be legal, but after much reading I find you can't .
To protect your self in case of a problem check your state.

Sorry for the hijack!!   ;D  Jack, I went back to look one more time also since I had not looked up license requirements in a while. I don't remember stuff too well anymore!   ;D  I found my info in the Driver's Handbook where it lists several vehicles including recreation vehicles that are excempt from CDLs. But it does says "however a regular license of the proper class is always required."
I keep putting off upgrading my own license to a class B but I am going to soon.
Hope you and Jackie are doing well!!!

HW, when I registered mine in NC about 5 years ago no one at the tag agency was e ven mildly interested in inspecting it. Perhaos it was the age of the bus (a 1968 MC5A) but they just accepted the title from the state of IL.

Yours seems to be a bit different situation sonce you're building yours from scratch. so I don't rellly think that I'm necessArily qualified to advise you in this situation. But you do have my best wishes for a perfect solution.
