Hi yo silver

Well, in my wildest dreams, I'm hoping one of you experts can tell me I shifted too quickly from Reverse and caused my problem.  After refueling this afternoon, I drove about 100 yards to an intersection, and paused for traffic.  When I pulled out and turned on a slight incline, the transmission started slipping, and looking in the mirror, I saw fluid behind me.  "This can't be good." I was able to drift off the road back into the turn lane I just pulled out of.
There was transmission fluid running out of the top of the spin-on filter on the Allison 754.  I called Virginia Truck Center about 5 miles away. Their service truck arrived shortly, along with a mechanic who didn't seem to mind the pouring rain that started just after he came on the scene.  He removed the filter, matched it up with a similar size filter from his truck, and robbed the rubber o-ring from that one to replace the busted gasket on mine.  After pouring in about 12 quarts of fluid I was able to get myself to his shop where I left my bus.  Marilyn picked me up and brought me home to a cold beer.
I have two questions; what could cause the gasket to puke, and what's the part number for the new correct Allison filter.  (The red filter that's on it now came with the spin-on conversion kit.  Can't remember the name on it.)  I'm hoping one of you can tell me I caused excess pressure when I hurriedlly shifted into a forward gear while still rolling backward from the fuel pump.

Only numbers I have off the top of my head is Wix 51623 or Napa 1623 any parts places can cross those over,if somebody install a engine oil filter in it's place that will cause your problem yours with a conversion kit no telling what the number is but the number above is the correct filter, check the filter the 700 series Allison requires 24 to 26 gpm flow rate

good luck

Nothing you can do from the driver's seat to manifest this.

Get the proper filter, NAME BRAND, install, and watch it like a hawk for awhile.

Baldwin, Donaldson, Allison, Wix and NAPA are a few.

Not knowing the source or quality of your conversion kit, hard to tell. If you are lucky it was some sort of gasket failure.

happy coaching!

Hi yo silver

Thanks guys.  Pretty sure the adapter plate is right; bought it from Luke.  Evidently the filter gasket just decided to let go.  I did find at least one of the empty quart containers he poured in was oil, not xmission fluid; so...I'm gonna make them change out the fluid today when they replace the filter.  I'll double check the PN with Allison shop.
As always, thanks for the moral support and the advice.
