Well my love for P71 Crown Vic's got to me and I bought an 05 Retired Kansas cruiser...now the fun part. Would I be better off throwing it in a trailer or getting a driveshaft disconnect kit? anyone have exp with Remco units for a ford ?

I have the Remco drive line disconnect on my Mercedes-Benz 300 turbodiesel.  The trick is to spray the disconnect heavily with silicone lubricant before disconnecting it.  I have had very little problem with it.  Good Luck, TomC

A friend has a Remco on a front wheel drive Ford mini-van. No problems that I am aware of.  My Father-in-law had a Remco on his Bronco and his only problem was that sometimes he had a difficult time getting the splines lined up to engage the driveshaft after towing. Might have been his technique?  Jack

For Toad use, I have to say that with a car that big I would be looking at the Remco, either a pump or the disconnect.  Reason - there is a big difference in PITA between a little car dolly you have to schlep around the campsite and a 20' long two axle car trailer...  On the other hand, I have rarely regretted owning a car trailer - you could use it to bring home a spare engine or something

I have a Remco disconnect that I had on a 91 Explorer.  Used to be that Remco had a trade in program whereby if you sent in a used unit, you could get $250 off the price of a new one.
When I bought mine, I found a guy in CA that had one and he shipped it directly to Remco and I split the discount with him, so he got $125 and I got $125 off the new one.

If they still have this program, and you are interested, contact me today or tomorrow and maybe you can meet me in NE on Saturday and take it off my hands. Or, I'd be happy to sell
it. The shifter pads need to be replaced and it needs a good cleaning, but otherwise it's is in good condition. I also have a driveline with the disconnect part. You would need to have
that installed on your driveline, or modified to fit your car. I bought the entire driveline when I installed it, and just put the old driveline back on when I took it off.

-Brian I have to agree with you about the trailer...my only worry is it becoming a "catch all" for my tools then again that might not be so bad!
