How many still use oil and oil bath seals for the wheel bearings or do you use grease and pack them?   If you are using oil what are you using and how has it held up?

My front hubs are oil bath, works perfectly.  I may buy new plugs at some point.

My front and tag hubs are oil-filled, and I replaced the 2 tag plugs and 2 front covers (cracked) last year.

remember that SAE 40 engine oil  and SAE 90 gear lube have almost identical viscosities.  The main difference between them is the gear oil has  extreme pressure modifiers that aren't required in a wheel bearing application.  I don't think there is any harm in using either lube in the wheel bearings, whatever you have on hand.  I personally use engine oil.

90 WT oil in tag and front hubs and 140 WT provided by differential for drive hubs.  John L

Just don't mix mineral oil with regular gear oil. You can smell the difference.

Oil all around. Front and tag are synthetic 90wt. Differential is 90 wt. I think grease may be OK in commercial use, but for our use oil is the way to go. First half turn and the bearing is coated again.
As a truck mechanic says "Every time I took off a greased hub all the grease was around the outside. Didn't think that helped the bearing much."
