On a mci 9 tail lights .will 12v LEDs work on the 24v system..I've been told you can use the 12v ,,they will just burn brighter..??wanting to convert to the bergman triple LED lights

Really only if you do a conversion of some sort, which could be a voltage dropping resistor or a voltage converter, or look for 24 volt lights.  They probably won't be reliable if you just run them at 24 volts.

has anyone done a drop down from 24v to 12v for tailights ,,how to ???

robertglines1

you can use resistors or a transformer...resistors reduce voltage you can size or go to your electronic supply store  and tell them what you want to do  inexpensive solution or just wire thru your toad supply that you have already reduced to 12 volts..I think they will overheat at 24 volts rapidly.

A possibility would be to wire them in series and have 2 of each to do so.

I looked through the Bargman catalog http://www.bargman.com/inc/Lights2010.pdf and they do not mention voltage anywhere in it.

You might talk to their support to find the right dropping resistor.  Otherwise, you will have to connect the lights to 12 volts and using a VOM, measure the current.  It would then be an easy task to calculate the required resistor.

Call me adventurous, I'd just go ahead and install them.

I am aware of an MC8 that an unwitting technician wired them in, and they are still working some many years later.

Looked and performed the same as the 12 volt transit bus beside it. No heat, no change in brightness.

7" Dialight product, if memory serves.

I have a set to do the same to my own, when time allows.

happy coaching!

Don't worry about the voltage on LED lights they work on 10 to 30 volts some manufactures ( Grote )say 12 to 28 volts  go for it

good luck
