OK, so she runs and shifts, now I'm trying to figure the rest of the beast out.
1) Open/close rotary valve/switch near floor on left of drivers seat..what do it do
2) I have A/C. but it needs tested and charged...does it work well enough when working correctly to bother with? Seems like the air flow out of the ductwork, well...Feeble at best. Thoughts??
3) It has ether assist, but I find no button for its operation...thoughts???
Thanks as always, Doug at 8000'

Hi yo silver

That valve closes the hot water line to the front heater core.  Ya need to find an operators manual for your bus.  You will also need a maintenance manual.  These publications will teach you more than you knew to ask about your bus.  Copies can be had from a number of sources on line.  Ask on the BB, some of the guys will be able to help.

As for the A/C..   If it's in good working order then it's definitely worth keeping in the bus if you plan to travel in hot climates. You cannot beat the cooling power of the bus a/c.  However, if sounds like yours is not in working order if it needs charged. They don't just leak down. You will have to repair it to recharge it, which means figuring out where the leak is. Most likely, it's one of the 4 rubber hoses. They are not cheap. I just replaced my main suction hose. It was over $70.  Then, you need to figure out if the compressor works or not. Can't do that without a charge of freon in it, unless you jumper the pressure switches. Also, what freon is in the system?  If it's R12, you'll have to convert it. Basically, I'd estimate $300 - $1000 just to get it working. But again, you can't beat it going down the road if it works properly.

You're planning to sell the bus so I would skip the A/C repairs.  You're unlikely to recoup the cost of repairs.  I suspect most buyers either wouldn't expect the A/C to work or wouldn't pay a premium for it, but I could be wrong.

I have the QuickStart system on my bus with a manual button by the ignition switch, but I think these systems were also available to automatically inject a squirt of ether depending on ambient temperature.   Maybe that's what you have.

The ether system on my coach has a temp sensor against the block, with a a tab held under a bolt.

No control for the driver, all automatic: warm enough, no ether.

A Kysor brand system.

I leave the power wires disconnected, I have a big Webasto.

happy coaching!

Thanks for all the info. I found the temp sensor. Ether can is empty, a project for the new owner. Happy Trails, Doug at 8000'
