Need help identifying what this is. pics

Could you guys help me identify what the PO placed on top of the transmission? I just bought a complete 8V71 with 4 speed transmission, power pack in the cradle for my Scenicruiser and I have no clue what this unit is that's welded on top of the transmission. I know you all are a lot more knowledgeable about this sort of stuff. Can you tell me what this is and how it works? Thanks for your help. Aaron

It looks to me like an air brake can set up to operate a hydraulic brake cylinder, no idea what for. I think you can safely put it in the junk pile way in the back of the shop. You do have one of those, right?

Hard to tell, but it looks part of the shut down for the blower flap.

A very modified one at that!

its not hooked to clutch anyway is it??was thinking air assist.

that lower bit is pointed into the transmission where the first gear is. It might be a brake to stop the gears rotating so you can engage first gear without waiting or grinding.

Does the scenic have ICC brakes I seen that setup on a old flex and GMC where they replaced the old hand operated parking brake they used a disc drum for a parking brake on the back of the transmission

Don't know about the donner buses ICC brakes. Everything was pulled prior to me getting there to pick up the cradle. It does look like an air brake can set up. There are two large, what looks like air lines that go to some sort of valve with one line going to the can. Then it is attached to a rod going into the top of the transmission. Could this be some sort of transmission brake? Aaron

Get out those wrenches & open 'er up. Then you can see 'what lies beneath'.

Be carefull so that you don't drop anything or put it back wrong. . . . .
