Having been on the road for several months now and having are son at home to help with whats in the mail we have been able to  limp along. Alas our son moved to Houston so we would enquire as to what is the best way to keep up with the mail?

Thanks

Find a mail forwarding service in your hometown if possible and have all your mail go there. When traveling you can have it sent to you whenever you want. When at home you can just go pick it up.  :)
Used to own a 1968 MCI 5A and a 1977 5C.

There are lots of different mail forwarding services designed for RVers.  They are typically in low cost states so the user can claim residence there if they wish.

I believe I read that some of the services will scan in the fronts of all your email and provide you the scans so you can decide what you want forwarded and what to trash.  Others will forward only first class mail and destroy the rest.  Some will send your mail in bulk to your location only when you request it.

Lots of options.  Over at rv.net in the fulltimers forum you can find a lot on mail forwarding services.

The postal service will forward your mail temporarily to a fixed spot for 6 mo.  if you belong to FMCA (a lot of us do), they have a forwarding service where you can change your mail address to their forwarding, then call them with where and when you want mail sent.  there is a nominal fee, plus postage.  We use Escapees mail, which is another full-timers group, which has a mail service similar to FMCA.

i'm assuming you want more than just a month or so, yet not full time.

We just flat out changed our address for mail, to escapees.  Even when we are home at the house we still can't sell, we have escapees send it to us.  Costs more, but they work with us.  Overnight, or any service offered by fedex, USPS, or UPS, at whatever cost, plus $80 (?) per year.  i think FMCA is similar in cost and service.

There is a great service in SD if you want to permanantly change, using a UPS store owner to handle it.  Beware though, a tennessee service just went out of business, and everyone's mail just is piling up there.  a lot of people are trying to figure out what they can do to stop the PO from deliving to that place.
