Awnings

At the moment I have a 24' Fiesta by Carefree of Colorado awning. It is basically in excellent shape but I'm wanting to add companion awnings on the windows and also make the awning an electric rollup along with having them match. I bought an upgrade scissors kit from Carefree but after reading the instructions they are only recommended for awnings up to 21'. That and finding anything that matches that awning for the companion awnings is not happening either. So basically what I am thinking of doing is scrapping the 24' awning and putting on two 17 foot awnings, buying another electric roll up upgrade so I would have 2 separate awnings, basically having a whole bus full of awnings on one side, and on the other side of the bus going with the matching companion awnings covering the windows. But my question is have any of you had any experience with the electric awnings from Carefree. This along with new drapes will be a big expenditure on the bus and I could use some personal experience as far as the awnings go. If my wife asks anyone please act dumb!! She wants new drapes in the house and an awning for the deck on the house! Put wheels on it and I might!!

I already warned the wife about you Dallas!!! Now we even looked up where Franklin is just in case!!!!! We got a big red X on the map marking it. Good or bad? Still thinking about that one!! But you are definately one I want to shake hands with!

I personally don't like the electrics as they stick too straight out which on a trailer is ok but on a motorh9ome they are too high to give shade a lot of the time. just MY opinion. Jerry

These are for hgher applications and have a steper slope...... it's what they say anyways...

I have a carefree with the electric scissor arms and I like it BUT be aware that they are designed for a FLAT side on a camper or rv.  With the curve of the bus they don't lay quite flat.

Doesn't bother me but it is a consideration.

We have the carefree electric sissor with the steep slope for 3 years now and no problems, But like Melbo said the curve of the wall makes the bottom stick out a little when rolled up but not that noticable. I to would like to get the window awnings someday. Jason

Good post Scott..I need a way to do the same thing .I have seen horizontal scissor arms on some coaches.you can adjust them to two different extentions..one to just shade windows(3 ft)and full shade for patio...

John, yes the eclipse has a sensor guard( adjustable sensitivity) to automatically stow the awning.

Van, that one in the pic that you posted on eric browns iggle is perfect, when I get rich and famous I'd like one just like it on my iggle, it kills me to have been born so damm good looking but broke lol.

So mount the one off the bus onto the house deck! 

Or sell it to me. That's about the size I want to put on my MC9.

Need to be careful when buying electric roll up awnings the arm types are usually 12V and the lateral type arms are 115v.The 12v closes slower than 115v neither survive real good here in the West I counted 9 of different types in Vegas yesterday over on top of the roof not the awning fault the Vegas wind is a bitch on somedays

 Cody, I know the feeling, someday... Maybe we can afford a new (used) gee wiz awning like that lol. I can barely pay attention, let alone afford this conversation lol . We are lucky for at least being abble to have some shade for now
