Had a great trip to Kansas for 2 weeks and a nice visit with Paul (Dreamscape) in Abilene Tx on the way up.   Really nice looking Eagle he's got.  We spent 2 weeks near Liberal volunteering on a church building.  The wind blew 70mph one night.  The bus wiggled a bit, but the rest of the crew in their RV's had really difficult times with there slides.  Most kept their slides in the whole time.  A couple of awnings got damaged.  I'm glad I don't have a slide after seeing everyone having so much difficulty.

Kansas is a pretty place in the spring with miles of views and beautiful sunsets, but every day was a bad hair day, for sure.   No problems with the bus on this trip, nice ;).  The potholes on US 83 from the TX/OK state line to Canandian TX were a disgrace and down right dangerous.  Be cautious if anyone uses that route segment.

Good to be home.

David, glad you had a great trip.

However, I don't understand the term "bad hair day" :D ;)

I would just like to add a comment that I really enjoy when folks post a message when they return from a long bus trip.  It gives me ideas on places to visit, and I like hearing about others getting out and exploring the countryside. Keep 'em coming, please.

I don't know what it is about Kansas but if I could drive around it to get somewhere I would. I seem to have to go through it on my bike a lot and it can be 50 degrees with a wind out of the south and raning when I'm headed south and 3 days later 100 degrees with a wind out of the north when I'm returning. We have a saying around here. If Oklahoma built a viadock over Kansas it would increase their tourism!! Nothing against our Kansas bretheren. I live in Nebraska and have had to endure tons of comments concerning my choice of a living area!! I just am not impressed with Kansas probably as much as you are not with Nebraska!

Cool, Scott, now I know what you think about it. You know, I don't mind driving through Kansas as much as Nebraska ;D. But you do have a point about our state. So I think we should do something about it. I can set up a collection point for you, that way whenever you pass through you can give me $20 of sympathy money (you know, because I live here, and have to put up with so much ;) ).

God bless,

John

David, Glad you had a safe trip and are back home resting. It was great to finally meet you after several failed attempts. ;) Next time maybe there will be more time, we'll leave the light on for ya! :D

I mean Abilene is soooo big, it's hard to miss us!

Did you get your project finished?

The wind was blowing so hard their rigs wear rocking like a rowboat in a hurricane.

The volunteer crew is still there for two more weeks.  I could only work a single two week segment because of obligations here at home.   It was a great project and a nice community.  The football coach brought in some high school players  to help us lift 43' TJI  I joist beams to the second floor while we were framing.  We were glad to have them.
