Well tomorrow I'm going to take the bus to my sister in laws business which is located in a pretty safe place along a heavy traveled road. I washed her today and have the for sale sign ready. I have a hard time understanding why it has not sold. I'm asking about half what I have in it not even considering the time. This bus has been rebuilt. New eng. radiators. transmission rebuilt. all new shocks, air bags. tires and on and on. I have more in parts then I'm asking. ??????? I guess I need you all to wish me luck. Or what do all you busnuts really think I can get out of this bus. If I'm not going to use her there is no use in keeping her. Busnut 104

Have you ever considered allowing a group with a "real need" to use your bus temporarily? While you may not have a need at this point, you may want to reconsider down the road and a temporary use permit may be better than taking a loss for good!

In this economy, the market is really in the sewer.  You might want to consider listing it in BCM classifieds as well as parking it with a For Sale sign. The secret to sellling anything is to put it in front of as many potential buyers as possible.  Jack

What Jack said.

We won't be much help as you don't indicate what kind of bus it is, year, condition, etc.

Craigslist, ebay, BCM ads. All are good ways to generate interest.

Gumpy: The only place I have had it listed is and still is at www.sellabus.com It is the black with three shades of silver. It is the mc 8 I think it is on the bottom left on the 2nd page. This will give you a idea of what I have.

Too bad you can't use it more - or do you have another?  ;D

That is a nice coach.
But, as for selling it now, the deck is stacked against you.

In this market, for that asking price, people have been able to get much newer coaches that are just as nice or even better.

One problem is the price. There aren't many who will have the cash on hand. Those that can afford the payment will have a time finding someone to lend that much on a 36 year old vehicle.

Then there is the desireability of the floor plan - to what extent will the new owner redecorate/ remodel?

Take it to a NASCAR race and see if you get any nibbles?

Someplace where the traffic jams up on exit:

"If you owned this, you'd be tailgating now"

On price, I agree that the market at that price point will be very thin.

Maybe just hold on to it for the moment?

happy coaching!

I wasn't going to reply, but, I must.
With the ecomomy in the tank, most busses are going begging.
Plus, unless you are financing, like some dealers, you're probably not going to find alot of buyers.
Also, wife made the comment that most people who are going to spend more than 30,000 are usually going to want slides on their coach.
the sad fact is, most people looking to spend the kind of money your asking, are going to be browsing wanderlodge's, or stick and staple's w/slides. For most people, trick paint and polished wheels etc are not the top priority.
here are the first hits on craiglist when searching mci bus conversions.

The key to selling anything is to price it right.  That's not to say that occasionally a lucky seller and a foolish buyer don't serendipitously collide to the seller's benefit.  However making a plan based on that expectation is similar to planning your retirement around lottery tickets.  Everybody is telling you that your price is wrong.  Try exactly one half of what you are asking if you are serious about selling.  Otherwise save yourself a lot of hassle and enjoy your coach.  (which looks like a very nice coach by the way)

Well  I took the bus down and have a for sale sign, I put the price 79900.00 but also said that all reasonable would be considered. I never said that the price was set in stone. I look on here and see where someone is going to give 8 to 15 thousand for a 8 or 9 and then have to have the eng rebuilt new tire new radiators and much more. so another 30 thousand spent and then they can start the conversion. Generator, inverters, A/C just for a few. another 15 to 25 thousand. How about the air bags, and leveling valves, the shocks. Oh I hope the transmission is good  or there is another 6 to 10 thousand. and we have not even talked about all those hours. Go figure. Like I said the price not set in stone, Nothing new I took a bigger hit in the market. So I guess that is life. No body said that was fare either. If it does not sell now there is another time, she is paid for. Just not going to use and could use the room. Even if she does sell I will still be a busnut only with out a bus.

I think most nuts will agree that it is very easy to put more $$ into a bus than it will ever bring on the market.

I got mine to enjoy. I just consider the $$ spent on it as an operating cost.

I never expect to get my money back when it comes time to sell but that hasn't stopped me so far!!

If you buy a new top line SS today you will only get a fraction of the original retail price for it after a couple of years, maybe only one year!

Someone has already mentioned this, but I feel it is a great point.

Have someone write up an add that is really eye catching. Mention all the strong points, documents on build, any and all that someone would want to contact you. This is a tough market and the best ads get the most coverage and readership. Advertise it all over the place, CS, eBay and local papers. Who knows, someone in your back yard might bite! I fear you won't be happy with the price you get unless the potential buyer sees it for what it really is.

You might have to pay now to put it out there, but it might just be the ticket! Putting a For Sale sign on it isn't enough anymore.

Don't forget you have BCM and BNO, they get a lot of hits!

Oh yeah. Now I remember. You've posted it before. That is a really nice looking bus. Too bad you are going to sell it.

Well, we all know that for what you have into it, time and money, that price is great. But, we also know the reality of potential buyers. They're cheap!
They'd rather spend a few thousand for a worn out shell and then spend tens of thousands rebuilding it and eventually get something that's not
nearly as nice as that one (has anyone seen my project  ::) ).

If you are not in a hurry, then list it with your price and advertise it everywhere and see what happens. You just might find someone who understands the value and has the money.

In the mean time, try to make time to use the coach. Maybe you'll change your mind.

Good luck with it.
