gauges and sensors?

Hello everyone, Question about sensors and gauges, when you redo your dash I notice that many people eliminate their warning buzzers(oil, water, etc.) next to the gauges, Do you just disconect them? Does the sensors run to the gauges or to the buzzers and warning lights? The big square warning/ buzzers/lights are in question? I've seen some wonderful dash pictures and I would like to clean up my dash, just gauges if possible.

I think Low Air visual/audible alarm is required.  How often do you look at your gauges, unless it is more than once per minute, you can have a terminal engne or air problem before you know it. Warning lights/buzzers use a different sender than the gauges do.  We replaced the big warning lights with flashing red LEDs and put different sounds on each warning circuit. Low Oil is a beeper/flashing red LED, Hot Engine is same as low oil except a constant tone, Low Air is the OEM buzzer/flashing red LED. Other things that do not require an immediate stop such as No Gen, Low Tag Axle Air have flashing red LED only (no audible). With a problem with these, I can at least keep driving for a while and do not want to listen to an audible alarm.  Just "our way" YMMV.  Jack

The gauges and lights use different senders.  The lights take a switch (usually a connection to ground to light the lamp) and the gauges use a variable resistance to operate them.  You can get senders that combine the two functions but they will have two wires, one for the light and one for the gauge.

You can use diodes to connect any lamps you choose to a single buzzer.
