We have some skinny bay space available that we would like to put a mini split ac in. It is 22" deep x 40" high x 53" long. The 53" is the door side.  The compressor unit is 10" deep x 21" high x 29 3/4" wide. If we put a 47" x 34"grille on the door, will that give enough air flow? Or do we have to put some grills in the bay floor also?

Hi Doug,

Without a doubt, you need just as much make-up air comming into the area as you have in discharge air.

Without proper ballance, you will have overheat problems that may be detramental to your system.

Good Luck

If you are going to the trouble to install a mini-split, you ought to consider making it a heat pump. When you have shore power available, the heat pump heating is the least expensive heating you can get, and it doesn't cost much more for the unit.

For what it's worth.
