i'm calling bullshit.  first of all the inside is too crappy looking.
2nd ELVIS PURCHASED THE 1959 FLEXIBLE VL 100 COACH AND HAD IT CUSTOMIZED FOR ROAD TOURS BY GEORGE BARRIS IN CALIFORNIA. IT WAS BRAND NEW AND HAD NEVER BEEN USED AS A LINE SERVICE BUS. ELVIS USED THE BUS THOUGH 1967,USALLY DOING THE DRIVING HIMSELF.

Anyone thinking about a trip thru Graceland should hit elvis's car museum there, it's right across the road from the house (not mansion) lol, the 'mansion' is just a fairly large house, nicely done but, in my opinion, far too small to be concidered a mansion.  BK and his parents took libby and I down to see some of the stuff in memphis last fall and of course we had to do the tour, he had some realy cool cars and some bikes, no buses on site that were elvis owned tho, but his planes are there.

FWIW all of the Golden Eagles were shipped to Continental Lines none were sold to anyone else both the GE 01 and the SGE 01 and the guy is wrong about his and the one in PA being the only ones left.
12 of those Eagles had Cummins and Mann diesel engines from Germany then they were shipped here with no engine and Continental installed the 8v71 to make for more head room

I agree with you Cody. A large house, on some beautiful property. I was disappointed when I visited. I was expecting a huge mansion. I guess in Elvis beginning years, that was considered a mansion. ;D  I guess even today it would still be a mansion, depending on what you come from.  ::)  His cars and planes were cool though.

There were a total of 249 VL-100 Flxible coaches built between 1955 and 1959.
Per the book Modern Intercity Coaches/Larry Plachno.
Pages 87&88.
Starting serial number 10100 through 10348.
Per the Flxible serial number list none of the above serial number coaches were sold to Elvis Presley new. ???

The big question is what documentation the owner has to prove what he says.

If it was converted in the early 1960s and Elvis sold it in 1967, the interior could be anything from pristine to Beverly Hillbillies, so that's not an indicator either way.

BTW, as far as the company records, they might not show a sale to Elvis.  By 1959, for tax purposes a coach would have belonged to a corporation with a nice, anonymous name, which would be run by his manager's cousin's wife's middle brother.

.

It wasn't converted in the early 60's Continental didn't turn those buses lose till around 1970 and no one own a GE expect Continental they were made strictly for Continental

no, but one was sold to Glenn Miller Productions, who knows where it went, but there seems to be a VL100 that was at Graceland at one point - OTOH, Elvis was drafted in Mar 1958 and didn't get out until Mar 1960 so I doubt he was bus shopping in '59  :o  ;D

actually it says owned by Evis's "group" which could mean his cousins maids uncle may have owned it and stopped by graceland to visit his niece at work.

john9861

May have been owned by the Southern Gospel group that Elvis used a lot. I understand Elvis gave them a brand new tour bus once.

Ok, maybe tasteless to some, but amusing to others.
Elvis would be 74 this year, so an update to a classic......

Are you lonesome tonight?
Does your tummy feel tight?
Did you bring your mylanta and tums?

Does your memory stray,
To that bright sunny day,
When you had all your teeth and your gums?

Is your hairline receding?
Your eyes growing dim?
Hysterectomy for her,
And its prostate for him.

Does your back give you pain?
Do your knees predict rain?
Tell me dear, are you lonesome tonight?

Is your blood pressure up?
Good cholesterol down?
Are you eating your low fat cuisine?

All that oat bran and fruit,
Metamucil to boot.
Helps you run like
A well oiled machine.

If it's football or baseball,
He sure knows the score.
Yes, he knows where it's at
But forgets what it's for.

So your gallbladder's gone,
But your gout lingers on,
Tell me dear, are you lonesome tonight?

When you're hungry, he's not,
When you're cold, he is hot,
Then you start that old thermostat war.

When you turn out the light,
He goes left and you go right,
Then you get his great symphonic snore.

He was once so romantic,
So witty and smart;
How did he turn out to be such
A cranky old fart?

So don't take any bets,

It's as good as it gets,

Tell me dear, are you lonesome tonight?

Ladies and gentlemen, Elvis has left the building. :D
