In planning for trip from tyler to Fair field Ca, I have found two stops. One at Grand Canyon  at Canyon Gateway rv park and then at Midway rv park in Vacaville .  Any info on these parks would be appreciated.

Check out this website.  It gives information on lots of campgrounds everywhere.

Just FYI, the "Canyon Gateway RV Park" isn't anywhere near the Grand Canyon.  It's in Williams; it's at least an hour and a half each way to the canyon rim from there.  From Williams, though, you could take the scenic train ride to the canyon.  Just be prepared -- it's not a quick trip.

There is one RV park inside the national park, Trailer Village.  From there you can take the park shuttle to everything.  The closest RV parking outside the park is in Tusayan.

Midway is okay, but nothing special.  When are you going and do you mind being 30 miles south, where you are going is very close to the Delta region before the bay area, 1,000 miles of waterways in a 50 mile radius.  We love that place.

Ray,

I will primarily be there for Granddaughters graduation from H.S.  We will have three or four days to visit local tourist traps. What is the name of the park you like.

Bubba gal, your input was greatly appreciated. It had lots of info.

John -

Is your granddaughter attending Armijo HS?

Be prepared for wind - breezy all the time in Fairfield, comes in thru the SF Bay to replace the hot air in the Central Valley.

Not too many tourist traps in/around Fairfield proper, altho a couple come to mind:

Anheuser - Busch still has their Budweiser brewery there, free tours plus a tasting room, too!

Free tour at the Jelly Belly factory also - it's right around the corner from A-B.

Travis AFB is the LAX for the military, their main departure center for all Pacific Rim operations.  You never know what kinds of aircraft you'll see on the base, if you can get a tour (difficult nowadays).

San Francisco is about 45 minutes away, well worth it if you've never been before.  Can spend a week there one night!

You really should also consider a side trip, either before or after the graduation, to Yosemite Nat'l Park.  One of the most spectacular places you'll ever see.  I'm just an hour down the mountain from the south gate (Hiway 41), stop by and I'll buy the Pepsi.

Good to plan this far in advance!
