Since I am relatively new here I just came across the post on his accident yesterday while I was skimming old posts waiting for pipes to thaw  :(. How is he doing now?

I read the article in the news report and through the posts but never saw what caused the accident. I thought there might be something there that some of us new to busses could learn from as to what caused it.

Hope he is doing well.

Duh!!  ::) I even read his article last week. I guess I did not pay attention to the writers name. He looks well.

Anyone know how the accident happened?

I just talked with Dan on the phone and we are setting him up with a forum registration as Dr Dan.  So he will be able to post and respond himself.

In short, as a group of us were discussing a couple nights ago, 18 wheelers can stop much quicker than buses as a rule.  He was in tight traffic and the truck ahead panic stopped.  He wasn't able to stop in time and lost both legs in the resulting accident.

Dan is one of the most remarkably upbeat people I have ever met.  He and his wife kept their faith up and his recovery was an inspiration to all around him including the hospital staff.  He is now back to working on buses.  Money is still very tight for them, but he is working on ways to earn the income they need.  He also speaks at churches and seminaries about his experience and the blessings through it all.

Presently Dan is working on part of our conversion. Completely rewiring the bus, installing roof top airs, replacing some structural damage, replacing the dash, floor pans, building electrical locker door, & on & on. You would be surprised at his wealth of knowledge. If you have electrical issues & are in Florida or can get to the Titusville area of Florida I highly recommend him. As indicated it can be tough to generate income in a handicapped status. A lot working against you. However Dan is fueled by his incredible relationship with Jesus Christ. And what a powerful attitude he has. You'll be glad you got to know Dan & his work is second to none. Be prepared to have something done right as he's not into shortcutting. Dan can be reached at 321-383-seven seven nine zero.
