I installed the HT740 behind my Caterpillar 3406B 400hp. I can tell you that it puts out more torque then the 8V-92TA but shifts smooth-mainly because the more recent HT transmissions had a momentary out of lockup occur during shifting.  So between 2nd, 3rd and 4th, ever time it shifts it goes into torque converter, just for a couple of seconds-but long enough for the transmission to shift while in torque converter, then it would lock up again.  Might look into that programming (mine is mechanical) to cure hard shifting.  Good Luck, TomC
