Hello all! We are working on more perm. solutions for our parked HVAC currently we've been using portable units to keep confortable however we are nearing the point in the conversion for a better solution. Our Current OTR heat and A/c is a massive roof mount thermo king unit that really doesn't allow us to add any roof mount units. Being a Transit bus i don't really have enough space for basement units IMO. I've been looking at some of the marine units Any opinions? Most of them are 220volt not a problem for us but i was wondering if anyone had tried them?

I have thought about the same thing. biggest problem is they dispose of the heat through a water cooled heat exchanger as the boat has a huge water source availible. I never figured out if you could use a small radiator and fan to circulate water through the exchanger and be able to dispose of enough heat. maybe Nick can figure out how much heat needs to be disposed of and what the radiator size would need to be?

I've seen a few that are air cooled and offering around 30k btus of a/c and 28k of heat for under 2k

Hi Eric,

If you don't mind 230v, then you should look into the Nordic Air line.

I install & service these units for them in mostly Featherlite Race trailers and Specialty vehicles.

Nick likes the Nordic Air units, and they are good, and EXPENSIVE!  Try looking at the CruiseAir units.  The condensing unit is small enough to fit under a transit bus (I almost used it on my transit).  Good Luck, TomC

Thanks for the Heads up all! I'll be looking to purchase one sometime  between april and May when we start rolling again! Nick have any suppliers for used units? Also any suggestions for anything 240v a/c would be great so long i can mount it underneath any suggestions?

That's the nice thing about the CruiseAir units-they run on 120vac so you can run them when parked at any RV power pole-and not be restricted to parks with 50amp service-or run the generator with 240vac.  Good Luck, TomC

we have units in our boat ...390 ray...they do a great job but ours use a lot of water for heat exchange..a 1/2 in stream discharge when running..max water temp in our area is low 80's..just a observation...
