I hate traveling I-95 especially through Georgia. It seems all they have is construction and concrete barriers.
Any suggestions for the trip to Arcadia ? Route 17 ?  I would much rather travel a more scenic and slower route than the
70-80 mph traffic with concrete barriers a foot away and a 50 mph cross wind. ;D ;D.

Coming out of Myrtle Beach so I am on 17 through a lot of SC, just never been on it in Georgia.Any one familiar with the roads in that state and Florida,
I could surely use some advice. My GPS last year in the middle of the night tried to get me to turn on some dirt road in the middle of an orange grove.

This time I would rather be mis-directed by a busnut so at least I got someone to punch if he is going to Arcadia too!!! :P :P
Thanks, Ed

Ed, when you get to exit 67 in GA, take that exit which is US-17, turn left and run that down through Brunswick...then it will go across the big bridge and it comes out at exit 29.  The Pilot there will be a good place to top the fuel tank off to avoid the high priced Florida fuel.
If you stop at the truck stop at Exit 7 in GA, get a Krispey-Kreme Cheeseburger.  Tell them a Foothills driver told you to get it!
If you go through Charleston, and I think you will...when you pass Garden Corners, (Where US-21) goes south) about a half mile or so past that...take a right on Old Sheldon Church Rd.  In just over a mile...you are going slow aren't you?...on the right will be the ruins of The Old Sheldon Church.  Built prior to the Revolutionary War, burnt by the British, rebuit, then burnt by Shermans troops, (May he rest in HELL!) on his March to the Sea during the Civil War.  This time it was left as is.  You will thank me for this at Arcadia!  (You can continue straight on Old Sheldon Church Rd to Yammasee and get back to I-95.  (No good place to turn around, there is little parking at the Church ruins except on the edge of the road, unless there are a lot of cars there you can get a bus with toad parked.)
The 50MPH and 45MPH zones south of Charleston...they are serious about those!  I saw over 75 Revenue Enhancement agents there one day!
Some folks run I-4 to US-27 down to Arcadia.
I am taking the first exit past the first set of scales in FL and running route 200 to Callahan and picking up 301 South.  WATCH THREE TOWNS THAT ARE SPEED TRAPS...THEY ARE Balwin, LAWTY AND WALDO!
When you get to FL 326 north of Ocala, turn right and run 2 or 3 miles to I-75.
Run it down to exit 217, which is route 70 east to Arcadia.
At exit 321 there is a Spirit Truck Stop...GREAT food!  I like the Pecan pancakes!
I drive a truck, we have dozens of trucks a week going that way as opposed to I-4.

Hmmmmmm. . .

Have often kicked around the crazy idea of a truck stop diner on a busy interstate, adorned with the colloquial name "The Greasy Spoon."

The kicker, however, would be that it had absolutely fantastic food that's fairly-priced, the exact opposite of what it's moniker implies.

;)

You guys all have a good time in Arcadia. . . I'm really bummed I cannot make it this year. . . :'(

Ed,
The route Jack H described is the same route we use.  We enjoy this route much more than the interstate.  Jack

It would only work if you had a big neon sign that flashed alternately, "Eat Here - - - Get Gas" "Eat Here - - - Get Gas"  :o ::)

There used to  be a truck stop in San Antonio named Gas & Eat.   ;D

They had some very good chili if you could stand the heat & the after effects ..... if you know what I mean!   :( :(

Boy does Jack have that route nailed! Also on 17 N of Brunswick on the left side i think is the worlds smallest church! and if you are really lucky the draw bridge into Brunswick will be open and you can get out and stretch your legs and watch a ship pass under. Really take Jack's advice on 301 to heart, those 3 towns main revenue is traffic stops. We usually hit 75 off 326 to miss Ocala traffic. Back to snow moving.  :(
we love our buses!!! NE Pa or LI NY, or somewhere in between!

Ed if the boss will let me go this year

I just leave the house and turn right. no worrys for a long time.

I will go down 321 to 301 then to a small city either colman or sumpterville and hit florida 471 then hy 98 to lakeland and hy 17 on to jacks.

Have to be careful going down hy 471 that is ncbob and florida cliff private hy.

Beautiful drive no interstate and easy driving. several places to stop.
a lot of small towns with banks or churches. never been run off yet.

If all the people taking 'no legal' pills stayed off the road, there'd be a lot less cars & trucks on the road.  :o

You shouldda taught the boss how to drive!
