If you want to shop around some more, they should be around $80 each. Try independent engine shops.

Hi JC,

Thanks,

What did you time your injectors to when you rebuilt your engine? Are you using N70's?

Pete

Pete,

I went from N65 to N75 injectors, and they are timed at 1.484".  Gear timing is standard. But remember, mine is now a turboed engine, so I'm feeding more air to the combustion chambers. I suppose 70s would be allright, just don't burry your foot into the floor off a green light or it will smoke. And make sure your radiator is in good shape, because more fuel = more heat to get rid of.

Let us know how you make out.

Hi JC,

Mine has had N70's since I've owned it. They were set at 1.484 as well, I was wondering if they should have been set at 1.460. I didn't have any problem with smoke but lately the engine has been missing and I've lost some power, having to drop an extra gear on some hills. Putting the injectors in tommorrow and see how she runs. I'll let you know.

The new injectors made a great improvement. More power and runs much better. 4 injectors and new fuel lines came to $581.00

What test did you do to determine which 4 injectors were in need of replacement?

Happy birthday Guy.  Great news about the inj install.

Hi John,

Just a 4-71 in my bus. I would have cut out each injector one by one by holding it down with the engine running, but there's really not enough room above the injectors. Just enough to get the valve cover off. I just decide to replace them all and also I didn't know how old mine were.

Good to hear Pete, do you get black smoke when you step on it? Doing a tune up after installing the new inj. probably has something to do with the improvement as well. The BC Bus Nuts have a rally near Cache Creek, BC in May, maybe we will see you there and finally meet you and your bus.

Hi JC,

A little smoke if you put it to the floor, but that's the same as before. It's funny that you mention the rally, a few of us were talking about it last night. There's half a dozen of us in Victoria that have buses and we all go out together quite often. We would like to get a few of us together and come up to your rally. Scheduling is the hard part. We'll do our best.

Thanks again,

Pete
