That 1950's diner you saw was probably the one that was in Mattoon, IL. The owner was running an illegal ponzi scheme's here in IL and the government sold it at auction and they hauled it off to the east coast. If it was it one of those shiny metal exterior's?

the diner was stainless steel on the outside and red vinyl booths inside - made me start thinking of bus decorating schemes!

Strictly speaking it was a half a diner (think doublewide mobile home) and looked brand new...  I've seen them before on that stretch of road, going north, just never got stuck behind one before.  it was wide to pass!

Heck, a gallon in 500 miles ain't bad, don't think I would worry about that.  For what it's worth, I learned not to top off the oil level on my 8V71.  I just spits it out until it's back at its comfortable level, just like some of the guys on the board said.  After that, the consumption is negligeble..negleble...uh, very little.  LOL
