Does anybody know where we can get a powered track? Something that we can mount a chair too, and then have a motorized channel, or rail move the chair.

Ideas?

God bless,

John,
How far does the chair have to move?
Is the surface along which it is moving, level, or might it incline?
Does the chair require more than one direction of movement?

I have thought of systems to move wheelchairs into a coach on an incline, self powered. Or to lift a chair into a coach through the floor, rather than have a unit that unloads itself to reach the sidewalk.

Are you thinking about a powered driver's seat that needs to move to take care of a driver's need?

I have a system for moving a passenger (tour escort) seat from over the entryway to slide over next to the driver, for those two person travel moments/hours when the center console just gets in the way.

Some aspects of a conversion may be puzzling to me (like multiple A/C systems), but there are a few situations I have run up against and worked out, over the years since my first bus.

Hope I can help.

Stair lifts do that.  they use a track to run the chair, and a chain to move it.

Guys, go easy on John I know what he wants he wants to be like Cole where you push a botton and it does the work for you so you can get out of the drivers seat LOL.
I am not a fan of the side by side seating the thing is always in the way.

good luck

I like the side by side thing, but only if I can get the silly thing out of my way when I need to move or would rather it not be there.

That is why I engineered a traveller for that seat, and it moves left and right, to free the driver, or bring the passenger closer. (Don't go there !!!   ;) )

PCC you can go to page 22  of this board that shows our family and bus's and see what our bus has it might work for you . I take my copilot seat all the time when Iam working in that area. works well for me and is pretty easy . FWIW . Andy

This has been a real learning day for me.

First I learn (hopefully it worked) how to start a new thread.

Then I find out about PMs.

Now I have no idea how to go to page 22.

Maybe I was aiming too high, targeting to know 1% of how to use this place.

What is page 22???

(Gone to church, so I will look for my answer later today)

Thank you for your patience

NEWBIE and showing it !

Ooops, sorry guys. I was in a hurry this morning ;D. Is really what I had a problem with, before, was when somebody asked a question, then got mad at the response. I won't do that ;D

So here is the needed info (that I should have posted in the first place).

We are working on our area up front, where the driver, and copilot sit. We have already ordered our couches, and they will be arriving Monday (we ordered them last month, and then we think through this...I know, somebody tell me we are doing stuff out of order, and we are :-[, but we had to get the couches for the next trip). The configuration that we ordered the couches for, was two couches, on each side (we got two, that way we get the right amount of space, they will fit next to each other, to make one couch, each side).

So we are working through a couple of things. We would have liked to have the copilot's chair, next to the driver. The problem with it being there permanently, is we have our couches, and the copilot would cover up the front couple of feet of the couch...So it looks like plan B, C, D, E, or F, is in store ;D. I wonder if we could somehow install a track, so the copilot could move over next to the driver, and the chair would then be in the walkway blocking the steps. When we stop, we move the chair back into the standard position (passenger side, right behind the steps).

Otherwise, it would be nice if there was a platform for the Copilot's feet to rest on, and maybe the chair could move forwards then....

I really don't know....I had hoped that making a new set of stairs, would work, but it won't, since we have the couches. I don't mind covering up the front part of the couch for a while, but permanently wouldn't work. So I really don't know what we want ::).

I do know that I just lost my sky hook, so that isn't an option ;D :D :D ;D.

I like the wheelchair lift idea...good idea...

I am not sure if anything will work out, but I thought I would see if you had any ideas.

God bless,

John

John,

I can drag out my drawings and specs for just such a co-pilot seat.

I designed it in 1983 for a coach with a tour guide seat but the owner/driver wanted his wife to sit "beside" him; close and personal.

The tour guide seat was a fold-up seat in front of the passenger's side seating that fit to the left side of the entry stairs, as you are coming into the vehicle.

I put that seat on a rail so that when folded out (to the seating position), an air operated piston slid the seat, passenger and all, over beside the driver.

Another press of that same button flung the passenger out the door (oops!), moved the seat back over to the regular position to be folded up allowing passage around it to enter and exit the coach.

Am I grasping your thoughts?

If so, I can send you the drawings, once I go back into my achives to find them.

I am planning to dig them out for the coach I am working on now, because drivers don't like to sleep alone, sad to think some folks do. (I meant drive)

Have a blessed day

Keith

Keith,

You are very close, but, of course, our situation is a little more complex. We have the recliner (flexsteel $$$ those things were pricey, but she get's nothing but the best :)). We would need it to move up, towards the front, and then over towards the driver. Sadly it isn't as simple, as a air ram....

If possible, I would still like to see your archives. It might give me some ideas.

Thanks for the help.

God bless,
