A standard factory engine install for that year model of Prevost was a 8v71 if that helps

Dallas I don't question his mileage with a 6v71 in that heavy bus you know someone is pulling him up the hill then he can coast down the other side.

I don't know how you can tell the difference between a 6V92 and 6V71 by looking at the exterior picture-they are identical.  Unlike the 8V-92 that has an external vibration dampner that the 71 series doesn't use, the 6V's are identical.  The only way to tell the difference is sometimes the 92 series has 92 stamped on one of the pulleys, there is a cast in 92 on the front left upper part of the block deck, or you could pull one of the valve covers to see if the valves are configured in a square pattern (71 series) or that the lower valves are mounted wider then the top two valves (92 series).  Good Luck, TomC

I looked at a local Prevost here that was an 82 Marathon model that was used by Immigration in Texas. It had the 6v71 in it and looked original. Others I have seen in print also have the same engine. I passed on it as it had a lot of S/S body parts damaged or missing/ bags/ tire issues.
