Hi folks, Dianne called from a flea market...said she was looking at a Simplex 1017 '10-ton jack'...did I want it for $30.00.
I happened to be on the puter and looked them up...Over a grand!  (That's $1,000.00 for us folks that like to see the zeros!)

Congrats Jack!  It is always good for a bus nut to have a spouse that understands their needs.   ;D

Jack, the guy  made 30 bucks clear the railroad or some house mover is probably still looking for the jack LOL what in the world are you going to use it for takes a 1 1/2 in solid steel handle and 3 people to jack the thing.
But for 30 bucks I would not have passed either but watch the handle those babies hurt when they hit you.

good luck

This is pretty funny.  I bought two railroad type jacks at the flea market last week.  They cost $10. each.  I knew they were 5 ton jacks but had never heard of the manufacturer.  You guessed it-- they are also Simplex.  I bought them because I have a semi trailer that I use for storage that I wanted to relieve the weight on the tires.  I figured I could put both on a rear axle, lift a bit, and just leave them in place.  Well, Clifford, you are exactly right.  Aside from having limited room to swing a handle under the trailer, they have bent whatever pipes I tried to use.
You don't have to believe everything you think.

I could throw up.  Unbelievably, I was at an estate auction today and they had a jack just like that.  I had no idea what it was.  They called it a railroad jack.  It sold for $5.

The beauty of it is that she is always looking for things for the bus.
The other week she picked up several tables that came out of old restaurants, the pedistal type.
When we figure out which one we will use I will offor them up to the board!
