One of the biggest drawbacks that I see are the two upper windows are gone, but covered up with metal or aluminum skins.  Now if you can find a set of those original curved glass vista windows, you'll be in business.

Think polycarbonate.

Or, you could give Pat McNeil a call. . . . .

BK, I would pass on that bus a friend of mine and I look at it about 5 years ago in CA someone  had cut all the cross braces trying to lower or raise the floor what ever they do to convert one to a RV it was a cobbled up mess.It was a 8v71
I don't how they are supposed to do the floor but that one scared both of us it was worse than the other 2 we looked at and he passed on he knew what to look for I had no idea till he showed me that is the problem with those when someone has no idea on how to fix the floors.
The guy in CA was asking 20 grand I wonder what the fellow in AR gave for it Dick offered him 2500.00  just for a parts bus he sorta of offended the owner not really he pissed him off big time

good luck

I don't think the floor is that hard to fix - IF you approach it the right way. Might be a real bitch to restore to seated tho . . . .
The bus structure is the alum skins spaced apart with sheet steel formed ribs. A similar approach is how to fix the removed structure. Would help to have another stock 4501 to look at when fabricating the repairs.

The bus looks straight & if it isn't sagging, It ain't too far gone. It ain't like you're gonna be putting a million more miles on it anyway.

There are no more than 250 left, waiting isn't going to increase those numbers.

If someone really wants a PD4501, the time for waiting for a nicer one for the money is probably past.
Don't forget, this is a shell that needs repairs & is full of trash disguised as remnants of an older conversion. There is absolutely nothing there as far as conversion goodies go (that you can reuse). So, there should be no disappointments.

How many have bought a converted bus only to find the interior (that they paid extra for) wasn't useable & had to be removed . . . .

If it is scrapped, I'll try to make a road trip & save what I can . . . . one never knows . . . . Besides, Jack Hart & I are due for another fools errand. Aaron, what does your schedule look like?  ;D

It is? Where?
The add say's AR

I'd be willing to look at it, but I'm also skeptical of the floor being cut out. I have a guy who is quite capable of helping with any fabrication that needs done. But at what cost?

I appreciate all the advise and opinions here, but in all honestly Clifford is the only one who's seen it in person (other than the seller). And as usual I highly respect Clifford's advice!
FWIW If I get a chance to go look at it I will!
Shoot I've brought worse things home and lived to tell about it!  ;D

Bryce, the floor can be made to be lowered and bolted to the frame like mine was done, I need to take some photos of it and post here.

BK, the same guy I was with has a 1954 with seats and all the windows he is thinking about selling he getting on in age and knows he doesn't have time to restore it but he won't sell to anyone that is going to chop it up.
We bought the tandem 4-71 from a driller in NM several years back to install in it but never done that yet

good luck

BK - this is from the first page of this topic from Scenicruiser 997 -

"Give the old boy a call.  He can tell you more.  He did say that it was his mistake and she still has a 8V71 that was rebuilt not long ago.  Also she has what the owner told me was a 13 Speed roadranger that could pass anything on the road.  The old girl is located just north of I-40 and west of Memphis, TN."

I'm just having fun with this post, please don't feel that I actually am pressuring you.  But you could at least go look at it.... ;)

Well, it could be worse, it could be like this one on eBay: 110458502610 where someone tried to make a Buffacruiser or a Scenilow out of a 4104!

Rarely have I ever suggested that someone would be better off scrapping a coach, even a 4104, than restoring it, but this is one.

Sorry to be slow getting back with you Kyle.  But if you and Jack decide to come take a look at her or to get parts, you just name the place and time, and I will be there.  You two guys are a real hoot.

BK, you are probably the closest if your from NW Tenn.  Just give the guy a call and go see it, and report back to us what you found out. I know there are other 4501 guys on here watching and waiting for more info.  Don't forget about the big SCENICRUISE 2010 in Texas.  It should be a real show, seeing all those old buses on Route 66.  You don't have much time to ger her ready for the big dance. So start today and you will be one day closer to finishing her up.
