A good trip

I just got back from a good trip.  4,000 miles from Minneapolis, MN to Reno, NV.  No real issues with the bus except we ran out of fuel in Fernley, NV about 3 miles from our planned fuel stop.  We filled up an extra time on the way home to be sure this didn't happen again.

The driving on the trip back was pretty bad.  There was a snow storm in the mountains starting around Salt Lake City and extending a ways into Wyoming.  It was pretty slick in spots.  We did stop for a while to let things get better.  The defroster quit working so that was fun.  It looks like this event might move to August next year so no issues with snow.

Thanks to everyone on the forum here who helped with my questions here before the trip.

Hee Hee Hee.  You obviously don't know much about Wyoming weather.   :)

We were in a blizzard in Wyoming this year on the 15th of August.  :D

This year was the latest the event has ever been held and was the worst trip home ever in terms of weather.  Besides all the snow, we had rain for nearly 50% of the trip starting in Nebraska and following us all the way home.

This is year number 8 for this trip for me, and usually the worst we have seen is a few hours of rain on the whole trip.

I figured out my MPG for the trip was around 7.8.  I had figured on 500 gallons of fuel, but also thought the trip was 4,000 miles round trip.  The trip is actually right at 3,900 miles.  We used 530 gallons of diesel, but we also ran the generator at least 100 hours so I threw out 30 gallons for the generator.

The bus probably weighed around 40,000 lbs for this trip plus we towed a trailer weighing close to 3,000 lbs so the MPG isn't too bad.
