Hi Guy's,

One of our Delaware members Bill Glenn, "homegrowndiesel" is in Texas with a 1991 102A3, 6V92 DDEC and has no throttle.

He also can not get the brakes to release but, that may be just rust.

If anyone knows about DDEC's and would be able to call Bill and get him going, we all would be thankfull.

His cell # is three zero two. seven four five. one one nine two

Thanks
Nick-

I bet ya it was a "door open Problem"

Many buses have the door switch wired to the DDEC "throttle inhibit" input line and will also put 60 PSI to the SECONDARY brakes

RTS transit bus drivers drove the mechanics crazy wearing out the "REAR BRAKES" first - until they found out the drivers
had learned to open the door while in motion and let the "door open - secondary braking" slow the bus to a stop

That door open activating secondary brakes and AIR throttle inhibit was also a standard  feature on non-ddec buses
If you ain't part of the solution, then you're part of the problem.

Pete you are the man when it comes to DDEC!

I happened to "accidentally fix" it over the phone! LOL ;D

Don Fairchild and I were out taking care of a few minor errands when I got the distress call.
NO throttle response & brakes not releasing either. And D.A.R.T's top guy had even looked at it and could not figure it out! (He told Bill "shoot it's been so long since I even seen one of these I don't remember how to work on it & its sat here for 4 yrs!")
We were away from any #'s or books or anything, so Don & I thought of all the possibilities either of us could think of, and we gave Bill all the ideas we had. He had checked all of them out , and was asking if we had any other ideas.
I happened to remember that there was recently a DART bus listed on EBAY I had watched because it had a wheel chair lift on it. So I asked Bill if the one he bought by any chance had a wheel chair lift on it.
He said that yes indeed it did. He checked it and said it was closed properly. So we were back to square 1, and had no clues. Don & I both insisted it still sounded like a door open problem, and I told him I'd seen lots of trouble out of wheel chair doors! Bill said he'd double check everything and if we thought of anything else to call him back.
A few minutes later I got a thank you call saying "You fixed it!" I said "huh, I did?"
He told me he had gone back and looked the w/c door over again and noticed a micro switch not making good contact because the door wasn't pushed in good @ the top! Fixed that & he's on the road.

Glad I could "stumble" onto it! ;D

I would also bet the bus was a DART RTS

Open the front right dash door and just right of center will be a "DOOR MASTER" switch - TURN IT OFF and ALL the door switches will no longer cause a problem
If you ain't part of the solution, then you're part of the problem.
