    Hello everyone,

I was wondering is there a color code for the paint on my engine?  It's the standard green color, I was wanting to repaint

it for there is a couple of places that need touched up.   I like the color of Jacks re-power!  Can it be purchased at

  any place or just DD?

   Thanks a lot,

Any place that sells automotive paint in spray cans.  Ask for Alpine Green.  Jack

The correct code for the alpine green is DE 1618 why paint it green the N/A 8v92 was black from the factory.

One issue I have encountered is that Alpine Green seems to be available only in spray paint. That's okay if the engine hasn't been installed yet, or if you have hours to mask off the items you don't want to paint.  I'd love to find Alpine Green engine paint in a can that I could use for touch ups, but it doesn't seem to be available.

I never have a problem buying in a qt from a Napa Auto finish center the NAPA that sell paint just give them the code DE 1618 others are probably the same

If you paint a solid steel block with that color it will leak oil. :)

I have contacted NAPA, including working through a personal friend who works for them on the regional level.  I have been told that NAPA will mix regular automotive paints to provide basically whatever color you want. HOWEVER, they do not do this with high temperature engine enamels.  If any of you have specific info on how to order engine paint in Alpine Green, in a quart, I would love to know.  I have been down this path a few times and been told they don't do this.  If it is possible to obtain this from NAPA, some solid info about how to do this would give me a chance to have some real fun with my buddy.

If your Detroit Diesel gets hot enough to need High Temp paint, It's ON FIRE!!!

I use silver on mine and header silver on the hot pipes. No problem..
